Bible Study — Week of April 13, 2008

Published by LPPC under Announcements, Bible Study, Events

Adult Bible Study Group meets on Wednesdays from 1:30 to 2:30pm in the Austin Room, and everyone is invited to participate. We recently began a new study entitled, “God, the People and the Covenant.” The Rev. Cornel Barnett and Seminary Intern Joshua Dunham facilitate the discussion on alternate weeks. It’s a great group.

Bible Verses to Remember for upcoming Bible Study: “If our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the furnace of blazing fire and out of your hand, O king, let him deliver us. But if not, be it known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods and we will not worship the golden statue that you have set up.” (Daniel 3:17-18 NRSV)

Food for Thought & Faith in Action — Week of April 13, 2008

Food for Thought: “The challenge of learning to know, to be with, and care for the disabled is nothing less than learning to know, be with, and love God.  God’s face is in the face of the disabled; God’s body is the body of the disabled; God’s being is that of the disabled.” — Stanley Hauerwas

Faith in Action:  Take the time this week to converse with someone wholly different from yourself. Take the time to sit and listen to them, and try to be patient while interacting with them.

“Receive every day as a resurrection from death, as a new enjoyment of life; meet every rising sun with such sentiments of God’s goodness, as if you had seen it, and all things, new-created upon your account: and under the sense of so great a blessing!” — William Law
